Introducing the LMTA Association Health Plan -Exclusive Benefits for Members

We’re excited to announce the launch of a brand-new benefit for LMTA members — the LMTA Association Sponsored Health Plan, powered by USI Insurance Services.

This exclusive program was designed to help our members take control of one of the biggest challenges facing trucking companies today: the rising cost of employee health coverage. By joining together under one plan, LMTA members can now access lower costs, greater transparency, and trucking-specific health and wellness benefits — all while maintaining the flexibility and control you need as an employer.

Program Highlights:

  • Exclusive to LMTA members

  • Lower costs + better benefits through collective purchasing power

  • Employer-sponsored group health insurance built for trucking

  • Greater plan transparency and more control over your benefits

  • Wellness and care programs tailored to drivers

  • Powered by USI for expert guidance and support every step of the way

This new health plan gives trucking employers the tools to reduce costs, enhance employee benefits, and improve long-term financial stability — all while keeping more value within our industry and association.

If you are interested in the plan, contact Jason Roussell with USI Insurance Services at jason.roussell@usi.com. For any other questions, contact Renee Amar at renee@lmta.la.

Together, we’re helping LMTA members build stronger businesses — and healthier teams.

Share Your Input: Safety Management Conference Interest Survey

LMTA is exploring the creation of a Safety Management Conference in October 2026, and before we take next steps, we need input from our members.

This conference would be a half-day, safety-focused program designed specifically for safety managers, safety directors, and others responsible for safety operations within trucking companies. The goal is to provide practical, high-value programming that supports safety professionals across our industry.

To help us gauge interest and identify the topics that matter most to you, please take a moment to complete our brief survey.

It takes just 3–4 minutes or less to complete.

Complete the Survey Here: https://members.lmta.la/ap/Form/Fill/pB018iyL

We are considering a model that would allow this event to coincide with other LMTA activities already scheduled for fall 2026. By gathering all safety-related programming into one dedicated event, we can provide more meaningful content while reducing the number of separate meetings throughout the year. This conference would complement — not replace — our statewide Compliance Seminars and NATMI courses.

Your feedback will guide decisions on whether to move forward, what topics to cover, and which speakers or formats would be most valuable.

Thank you in advance for taking a few minutes to share your insight. Once survey responses are reviewed, we will determine next steps and share additional details with the membership.

ATRI Needs Your Help: Participate in New Insurance Research & Receive a Customized Peer Comparison Report

ATRI is asking motor carriers to participate in a new national study on rising commercial auto insurance costs. We encourage your company to take part.

You can complete the survey online or by PDF, and all data remains confidential.
Deadline: Friday, December 19.

Insurance costs have risen 36% per mile over the past eight years, even as crashes have declined. This research will help identify which risk-management strategies—safety technology, training, coverage adjustments, captives, and more—are truly making a difference.

Why your company should participate:

  • Receive a customized report comparing your cost of risk to anonymized peers.

  • Gain insight to help reduce long-term insurance costs and strengthen your safety profile.

Why it matters for the industry:

  • Supports ATRI’s efforts to address insurance affordability and lawsuit abuse.

  • Provides stronger data to advocate for fairer and more effective reforms.

ATRI is requesting insurance coverage data for 2021–2024, along with information on safety technologies and risk-management practices. They will sign an NDA if needed.

Statewide Truck Permit Portal Experiencing Intermittent Disruptions Due to Global Cloudfare Outage

UPDATE: At this time, the LAGeaux Truck Permitting software appears to be functioning normally again. The global Cloudflare issue is mostly resolved, though some intermittent disruptions may still occur.

(11/18/25 - LADOTD) The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is advising commercial carriers and the trucking industry of intermittent service disruptions affecting the LAGeaux Truck Permitting software due to a worldwide Cloudflare service outage.

The ongoing global outage is causing intermittent access problems that prevent some external customers from using the automated permitting system. Users may receive error messages and may temporarily be unable to automate permits through the portal as the outage fluctuates.

While DOTD’s Truck Permit Office remains able to issue permits internally, these disruptions have led to increased call volume and extended wait times for customers seeking assistance.

The LAGeaux system issues approximately 700-1000 permits daily supporting commercial carriers that keep Louisiana’s economy moving. DOTD recognizes the importance of timely permits and is working closely with the Office of Technology Services (OTS) to restore normal operations as soon as possible.

DOTD will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
For assistance with permits, carriers may contact the Truck Permit Office at 800-654-1433. Callers should expect delays until the outage is resolved
