This week, the association received several emails related to phishing scams from FMCSA the last few weeks. Also this week the FMCSA sent out a notice regarding these scams. We wanted to pass this information along for your awareness. |

Human Trafficking Prevention Event | August 27 |
|
LMTA members and industry stakeholders are invited to attend a Human Trafficking prevention event, a Truckers Against Trafficking Coalition Build, hosted by The Monroe, Louisiana Coalition Build. The event will be held August 27, 2024 from 10:00 am-2:00 pm
Please join us for a half-day human trafficking awareness event that aims to bring together key stakeholders from the trucking, truck stop, bus, and energy industries with local, state, and federal law enforcement and government agencies. This collaborative effort seeks to close loopholes and enhance measures against human traffickers.

FREE Driver Gifts | Truck Driver Appreciation Week (Sept 15-21) |
|
Celebrated annually, this year’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week runs from September 15-21, 2024, and takes on a special meaning for our nation's economy. Professional truck drivers are the key link in our nation's supply chain, continuing to deliver despite unprecedented obstacles. Join us this September, thanking Louisiana truckers! The LMTA Foundation will mark Louisiana's Truck Driving Appreciation Week by shipping appreciation gifts to participating companies. We have hundreds of FREE gifts to allocate to Louisiana trucking companies. Gifts can be registered online, with an initial restriction of 50 gifts per company. The deadline to register for gifts is August 12, 2024. Please note that the LMTA Foundation will distribute gifts on a first-come, first-served basis; gift contents and quantities are subject to change. Your company DOES NOT NEED to be a member of the LMTA to receive appreciation gifts! Only companies that employ drivers are eligible for gifts. Allied business companies (i.e. insurance, equipment, dealers, etc.) will not be shipped gifts. Louisiana State Police Offer Safety and Compliance Services for Carriers and Drivers |
|
Louisiana State Police (LSP) are offering safety and compliance services for carriers and professional drivers. This is a great opportunity for truckers and their drivers to understand what LSP are looking for on the highway. LSP will come to your facility and train your crew. Please note: this is not a class. Contact Brady Johnson at brady.johnson@la.gov if you would like LSP to perform one of these services for you. Services are provided across the state and are open to fleets of all sizes. No fleet is too big or too small!
