Final Plea From TruckPAC for the Primary Election
|
LMTA Members - This will be the last plea from TruckPAC for the Primary Election, but we will continue to remind you to early vote or vote on October 14!
Many of the races below are heads up races between trial lawyers and the business community. We are seeing the trial lawyers PACs spending lots of money in key legislative races across the state. They, in fact, have made some adjustments recently totally killing efforts in some races to move most of their resources to races they believe are key. We need to do the same.
Top 9 NEEDED RACES: (All TruckPAC Endorsed candidates)
Rick Edmonds: Senate District #6 (East Baton Rouge parish) – a lot of negative ads coming from trial lawyers
https://secure.anedot.com/rick-edmonds-for-state-representative/general-fund-ce370a05bc93923f52cab
**Tim Kerner: Senate District #8 (Jefferson parish) – tight race, needs money running against one of the biggest trial lawyers in the senate.
Mail to: 1156 Jean Lafitte Blvd, Lafitte, LA 70067. He’s getting a donate link up on his website www.timkernerjr.com but it might take a day or two.
Blake Miguez: Senate District 22 (Iberia, Lafayette, St Landry, St Martin parishes) – trial lawyer-backed opponent

Alan Seabaugh: Senate District 31 (10 parishes in north and central La) – tight race with trial lawyer-backed opponent

Thomas Pressly: Senate District 38 (Desoto and Caddo parishes) – tight race running against a trial lawyer
https://thomaspressly.com/contribute/
Michael Melerine: House District 6 (Bossier and Caddo parishes) – open seat and would be a great asset for truckers
https://www.michaelmelerine.com/donate
Braville Leblanc: House District 73 (Tangipahoa parish) – hoping to get him in the runoff, running against an environmental activist
https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=S2FUD2VMD2KG2
Kim Carver: House District 89 (St Tammany parish) – trial lawyer opponent

Mary Dubuisson: House District 90 (St Tammany parish) – trial lawyer opponent

WEATHER - National Weather Service: Dangerous Heat Advisories
|
Here is an update from our partners at the New Orleans and Baton Rouge NWS.
Main Takeaways:
- Dangerous heat will continue today but won't be quite as oppressive as recent days. A heat advisory is in effect for maximum heat index values up to 111 degrees. Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, drink plenty of water even if you're not thirsty, check on the elderly, ill neighbors, and family members, and bring pets indoors or provide them with shade and plenty of water.
- Seven Day Forecast for Baton Rouge and New Orleans depicts more extreme heat ahead this weekend into early next week with heat indices well into the 110 degree range. However, rain chances build back up this weekend into early next week with an approaching front, helping to reduce the extreme heat somewhat.
