THIS WEEK AT THE CAPITOL WITH LMTA

LMTA’s Legislative Overview

Though we are still monitoring activity at the state capitol, there has been little activity going on this week for truckers. The only activity that has occurred surrounded workers’ comp bills.

FLOOR ACTION

SB 382 by Sen Seabaugh (Support) repeals the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council and was passed on the Senate floor by a vote of 36-0.

COMMITTEE ACTION

HB 537 by Rep Crews (Support) repeals the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council was heard in the Senate Labor Committee and was reported favorably.

SB 408 by Sen Myers would overhaul Louisiana’s workers’ compensation system to improve recovery and return to work, increase medical fee schedule transparency, curb abuse, and modernize operations, with any new fee schedule subject to Louisiana-specific rulemaking and labor committee approval. It was heard in the Senate Labor Committee and was reported favorably.

IN THE SENATE CHAMBER: Future Leaders Class of 2026 member Elissa Guillory with Renee Amar during Future Leaders Day at the Capitol.

Staying informed and involved is crucial not just during legislative session, but also throughout the year.
