Canada's COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate to Expire

Health Canada, the federal agency in charge of COVID-19 regulations, made an announcement this morning confirming last week’s early report that the COVID-19 vaccine requirement, along with other associated travel rules, will expire on September 30, 2022.

Effective October 1, 2022, all travelers, regardless of citizenship, will no longer be required to do any of the following health measures:

  • submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website;
  • provide proof of vaccination;
  • undergo pre- or on-arrival testing;
  • carry out COVID-19-related quarantine or isolation;
  • monitor and report if they develop signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arriving to Canada.

The announcement from Health Canada is available here

To date, there has been no announcement from the U.S. that the federal government will be making any similar changes to the current COVID-19 vaccine requirements for foreign nationals entering the country. The current requirements for land ports of entry from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are available here. ATA will continue to engage with the White House and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to address our concerns with this issue.
