Last week members of the LMTA visited with Louisiana members of Congress, highlighting the issues of not only their businesses but the industry as a whole.

Members discussed a varity of topics including workforce development through education, truck parking, streamlining TWIC certification and infrastructure among other issues.

After a series of deadly storms ripped through the northwest corner of Louisiana Tuesday night, Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a State of Emergency. We are incredibly saddened by the devastation and lives impacted by the storms this week and our prayers go out to everyone impacted by these storms.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), six possible tornadoes struck Caddo, Union, Rapides, Madison, East Carroll and Franklin Parishes. We encourage all to remain safe and vigilant as the weather moves through the area. Below is a list of emergency resources for your convenience.

Travelers can also find information regarding road closures by visiting the 511 Traveler Information website at www.511la.org or by dialing 511 from their telephone and saying the route or region about which they are seeking information.

OVERVIEW:

The U.S. Department of Transportation has published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for $1.5 billion in grant funding through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program for 2023. The popular program helps communities around the country carry out projects with significant local or regional impact.

RAISE discretionary grants help project sponsors at the State and local levels, including municipalities, Tribal governments, counties, and others to complete critical freight and passenger transportation infrastructure projects. The eligibility requirements of RAISE allow project sponsors to obtain funding for projects that are harder to support through other U.S. DOT grant programs.

LADOTD released their Notice of Intent period yesterday to apply for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) formula program. Here a copy the announcement is available with more details to submit a letter of intent.

The deadline for NOI submissions is December 31, 2022. Anyone interested in applying for the NEVI program must submit a Notice of Intent to qualify for the RFP. More information from LADOTD on the application process will be posted on their website.

From Louisiana Clean Fuels:

LCF invites you to the Louisiana NEVI Workshop and Expo. This LCF Workshop is for all potential applicants who are interested in learning about the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program to build out our EV Charging Corridors. Participation in this event is a great way to meet and network with potential project partners. This event is free and open for all interested stakeholders. 

Background: As of September 15, 2022, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has approved our state's Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Deployment Plan and will allocate approximately $73 million in federal funding to Louisiana over the next five years. These funds will cover 80 percent of the EV infrastructure expenses with a minimum 20 percent non-federal match covered by grant recipients.  To disburse these funds, our state is developing a competitive grant program that allows for a phased approach to the buildout of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) over five years that meets federal requirements of DC Fast Chargers within one mile of designated corridors.
