HB 1089: Protect Patient Care, Not Payouts - Join Us at the Capitol
|
On Monday at 9:30 AM, the House Civil Law & Procedure Committee will take up HB 1089 (Bamburg), legislation designed to bring accountability and protection to how future medical damages are handled.
The bill establishes CARE Accounts to ensure funds tied to Life Care Plans are preserved for the injured party and used specifically for their ongoing medical care, rather than being distributed as a large upfront payout. By structuring these awards to be accessed over time for legitimate medical expenses, HB 1089 helps protect the intent of these settlements while adding transparency to the process.
NEXT MONDAY'S House Civil Law & Procedure Committee Meeting (Room 4)
Monday, April 27 | 9:30 AM
*End time is subject to change based on how long the committee takes to hear all bills.
Agenda
If you have testimony related to future medicals or Life Care Plans, we strongly encourage you to attend and participate. Your real-world perspective is critical in helping lawmakers understand the impact these practices are having on our industry.
