Introducing Women In Motion - Louisiana (WIM-LA): LMTA's Newest Council - Connecting Women Across Louisiana's Trucking Industry

We are pleased to announce the formation of Women in Motion–Louisiana (WIM-LA), a newly established council of the Louisiana Motor Transport Association. Modeled after the American Trucking Associations’ Women In Motion program, WIM-LA is designed to connect, support, and empower women across Louisiana’s transportation industry.
We are proud to introduce the Founding Board of Directors and Officers of Women in Motion–Louisiana:
  • Tasha Mears, Board Chair – CAO/CIO, Razorback Rentals
  • Candice Brown, Vice Chair – Safety Director, Guillory Petroleum Transport
  • Jordanna Coleman, Secretary/Treasurer – President & Co-Owner, LC Transport Services
  • Elissa Guillory, Membership Chair – Owner, J. Guillory Jr. Trucking
  • Renee Amar, Advisory Liaison – Executive Director, LMTA
Our Mission
Women in Motion–Louisiana exists to connect and empower women throughout Louisiana’s transportation industry. We aim to foster a supportive environment where women in all industry roles can engage in advocacy, mentorship, collaboration, education, professional growth, and meaningful networking.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As 2026 marks our inaugural year, WIM-LA’s primary focus will be growing our membership and strengthening connections among women within LMTA, while also encouraging new members to join both LMTA and Women in Motion–Louisiana. Membership is open to women in all roles across the transportation industry.
In addition, WIM LA will spearhead education and resources surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI)—including advancements, practical applications, security considerations, and implementation strategies. An in-depth AI presentation is planned for this summer at the LMTA Annual Conference. Please watch for and participate in an upcoming email survey focused on AI; your feedback will help ensure we address end-to-end questions and insights from LMTA stakeholders.
Membership Information
LMTA membership is required to join Women in Motion–Louisiana. There are two categories of dues for WIM-LA: Trucking Members (Individual, Domiciled, and Non-Domiciled) and Allied Members. The fee is assessed per person, not per company.

Eligibility for WIM-LA is based on your company’s LMTA membership status. Questions about membership affiliation may be directed to lmta@lmta.la.

Kick-Off Calls
WIM-LA will host introductory video conference calls to share more about the council, review objectives, and outline upcoming initiatives. Two identical sessions are offered for scheduling flexibility:
We encourage you to share this exciting announcement with the women in your organization. We look forward to welcoming and supporting women across Louisiana as we build momentum for Women in Motion–Louisiana.

TruckPAC Endorses Judge William "Billy" Burris for Louisiana Supreme Court

TruckPAC is proud to announce our endorsement of William "Billy" Burris for the Louisiana Supreme Court. This election is not just important; it is the most pivotal election for truckers in decades, and we cannot afford to sit on the sidelines.

The Louisiana Supreme Court has a massive and direct impact on every aspect of the trucking industry in our state. From critical decisions about liability and personal injury claims that affect your insurance rates and financial security, to rulings on coastal issues, to complex employment matters that dictate how you operate – the judges on this court shape your livelihood.

We don't need judges who legislate from the bench, inventing new laws or bending existing ones to fit their personal agendas. What we need, and what Billy Burris offers, is a conservative, strict constructionist philosophy. We need judges who understand their job is to simply interpret the law as it is written, not create it. This approach ensures predictability, fairness, and a stable legal environment essential for our industry to thrive.

Billy Burris possesses the right background, a strong work ethic, and most importantly, the proper philosophy to represent us effectively in what is truly a swing seat. He will be a judge who upholds the rule of law, protecting businesses and individuals from judicial overreach.

This is a crucial election for Louisiana's truckers. Your vote for William "Billy" Burris is a vote for judicial integrity, a predictable legal system, and the continued strength of the trucking industry in our state.

Please make sure you are registered and vote for William "Billy" Burris for the Louisiana Supreme Court. For more information on Judge William H Burris - visit his Facebook profile.

Notice to Carriers: Active Weigh Station Sign Now Operating on I-10 Eastbound

We’re sharing a quick update for drivers traveling on I-10 Eastbound, based on information provided by our partners at LADOTD Police.
The LaPlace Eastbound weigh station is scheduled to begin operations on February 16. A new digital sign has been placed on I-10 Eastbound before the LaPlace weigh station. This sign will let drivers know when the weigh station is open and active. The goal of this sign is to give drivers advance notice so they can be prepared and avoid unexpected delays.
Carriers are encouraged to let their drivers know about this new sign and upcoming weigh station activity when traveling on I-10 Eastbound.
