Regardless of industry or job title, this program is designed to help individuals develop essential leadership skills, expand their professional network, and gain valuable insights into effective leadership.

While open to all industries, this program will provide a special focus on the diverse roles within a trucking business—from accounting and compliance to operations and fleet management. Participants will gain a well-rounded understanding of leadership across all areas of the industry, helping them grow into well-equipped and confident leaders.

The LMTA Future Leaders Program is a premier professional development initiative designed for individuals committed to building and advancing their careers in the trucking industry. This exclusive program provides participants with unique opportunities for leadership growth, industry insight, and professional networking.

Through a structured curriculum, participants will engage in specialized training, mentorship, and hands-on experiences that enhance their knowledge of key industry challenges, legislative affairs, and operational best practices. Future Leaders will also have access to LMTA events, leadership workshops, and a strong network of industry professionals.

Participation in this program requires a competitive application process, ensuring that selected individuals demonstrate a strong dedication to the trucking industry and a desire to grow as future leaders.

Program Details 

The LMTA Future Leaders program prepares trucking professionals from member companies to become industry leaders by providing them with essential knowledge and experience in both the trucking industry and the association. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicants from motor carrier fleet members and allied members will be selected to participate in the LMTA Future Leaders class. 
• Applicants must be employed by a member in good standing with the LMTA. 

COST & FEES:

• Applicants are responsible for their travel costs, lodging and tuition. 
• Applicants are required to attend all class sessions listed on the following page. 
• $500 program tuition.

Below is a tentative outline of the LMTA Future Leaders class schedule. As part of this program, all classes are mandatory! Please note that these dates are tentative.

Class #1 | July 30 - August 2  

• LMTA Annual Convention - Perdido Key Resort (Orange Beach, AL)

Class #2 | October 14 - 15 

• Location TBA (Alexandria, LA)

Class #3 | January 21 - 22 

• 2026 Transportation Conference - Lod Cook Hotel: LSU Campus (Baton Rouge, LA) 

Class #4 | April 15 - 16  

• LMTA Office - Downtown (Baton Rouge, LA)

Course Graduation | July 8 - 11 

• LMTA Annual Convention - The Lodge at Gulf State Park (Gulf Shores, AL)
