Update on the 2026 - 2027 LMTA Future Leaders Program
|
Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in the 2026 LMTA Future Leaders Program and to those who helped promote and support the initiative.
After careful consideration, LMTA has made the decision to pause the Future Leaders Program for 2026. While last year’s inaugural class was a strong success and helped establish a solid foundation for the program, this year’s enrollment did not reach the level needed to provide the collaborative experience and full curriculum envisioned for participants.
The Future Leaders Program remains an important investment in the future of Louisiana’s trucking industry, and LMTA remains committed to its long-term success. During this pause, the Planning Committee will evaluate opportunities to strengthen engagement, outreach, and program development as we prepare for future classes.
We appreciate the continued support of our membership and look forward to building the next chapter of the Future Leaders Program together.
On behalf of LMTA, the Future Leaders Planning Committee, and Chair Jordan Hymel, we thank everyone for their interest and participation.

Election Information - TruckPAC Endorses Judge Billy Burris
|
Louisiana’s May 16 election is this Saturday, with polls opening at 7:00 am and closing at 8:00 pm. Of particular importance to Louisiana’s trucking industry is the race for the Louisiana Supreme Court.
TruckPAC, the Louisiana Motor Transport Association’s political action committee, has endorsed Judge William “Billy” Burris (District 1 of the Louisiana Supreme Court), citing his commitment to interpreting the law as written and applying it fairly and consistently. Supreme Court decisions directly impact Louisiana’s legal climate, liability exposure, insurance costs, and business environment.
The 1st District of the Louisiana Supreme Court covers Livingston, Washington, Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, and St. Bernard parishes, along with a small portion of Orleans Parish
This election also includes several statewide constitutional amendments and important election changes. Louisiana’s new closed-party primary system is now in effect for certain races, including U.S. Senate, Louisiana Supreme Court, PSC, and BESE races.
Only registered Republicans and voters listed as no-party may participate in this primary. No-party voters may select which party ballot to vote but must remain with that party through any related runoff.
Additionally, Louisiana’s U.S. House races have been suspended following federal court action regarding congressional district maps, though all other races will proceed as scheduled.
- Election Day: Saturday, May 16, 2026
- Polls Open: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Early Voting: May 2–9 (excluding Sunday, May 3)
