LMTA Co-Hosts Gubernatorial Forum | Thank you, candidates!
|
The LMTA wants to thank gubernatorial candidates Senator Sharon, Hunter Lundy, Richard Nelson and Stephen Waguespack for showing up and making themselves accessible to our members, Louisiana Logger’s Association and PAC, and Louisiana Craft Brewers Guild.
Running for office, especially Governor, is not for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of time and energy, especially away from family. We appreciate their willingness to participate in our forum, answer a few tough questions and largely, for stepping up to run at such a critical time in our state!

We have the highest truck insurance rates in the nation, and we can’t stand on the sidelines while we see our friends and families fleeing the state,” says LMTA Executive Director Renee Amar. “Truckers need bold action from their elected officials, and we are going to support those candidates willing to take action on our behalf to fix the issues.”
TruckPAC is a non-partisan political action committee that promotes candidates and officials that support Louisiana’s trucking industry.

WEATHER - National Weather Service: Dangerous Heat Advisories
|
Here is an update from our partners at the New Orleans and Baton Rouge NWS.
Main Takeaways:
- Dangerous heat will continue today but won't be quite as oppressive as recent days. A heat advisory is in effect for maximum heat index values up to 111 degrees. Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, drink plenty of water even if you're not thirsty, check on the elderly, ill neighbors, and family members, and bring pets indoors or provide them with shade and plenty of water.
- Seven Day Forecast for Baton Rouge and New Orleans depicts more extreme heat ahead this weekend into early next week with heat indices well into the 110 degree range. However, rain chances build back up this weekend into early next week with an approaching front, helping to reduce the extreme heat somewhat.
