2026 Truck Driving Championships: Volunteer Information

Thank You for Volunteering!

Thank you for volunteering for the 2026 Louisiana Truck Driving Championships. Your support is essential to making this event a success. We are excited to announce that this year's Championships received the largest volunteer registration in recent TDC memory—a testament to the industry's commitment to safety and professionalism!

 

Please review the information below for important details regarding schedules, assignments, and event logistics. We look forward to seeing you in Lafayette!
 

Mandatory Volunteer Meeting:

There is a mandatory Volunteer Meeting at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 18, in the Cajundome Arena. Please gather on the floor in the center of the arena. During this meeting, volunteer assignments, shirts, and hats will be distributed.

 

Following the general meeting, volunteers will break into smaller groups based on their assigned area of the competition (i.e testing, pre-trip, hostling, scoring, etc). Each competition lead will conduct a separate briefing with their team to review responsibilities, schedules, and other event-specific details.
 

Delivering Donated Equipment:

All donated equipment must be delivered to the Cajundome equipment lot by 12:00 PM (Noon) on Thursday, June 18 and removed by 10:00 PM on Saturday, June 20.

Directions to Equipment Lot:

  • Take I-10 West
  • Exit onto LA 3184 (Bertrand Drive) South
  • Continue to Congress Boulevard
  • Turn left onto Congress Boulevard
  • Proceed to the North Entrance of the Cajundome (just past the main entrance)
  • Turn right into the equipment lot

A uniformed law enforcement officer will monitor the equipment lot throughout the event to provide security for all donated equipment.
 

Food & Concessions:

Concessions will be available throughout the event. Please note that the Cajundome is a cashless venue. All concession purchases must be made using a debit card, credit card, or mobile payment option.

 

For companies wishing to provide food for their volunteers, you may purchase concession vouchers directly through the Cajundome in advance.

Banquet Tickets:

Volunteers are invited to attend the Truck Driving Championships Awards Banquet on Saturday evening. If you would like to attend, please email Burton at burton@lmta.la with the number of tickets you are requesting.

 

Banquet attire is Sunday best. 

 

There is a cocktail reception prior to the banquet. Please note that we will host a beer & wine bar, but liquor can be purchased. Please note that the Cajundome is a cashless venue. All purchases must be made using a debit card or credit card.
 

Dress Code:

Volunteer Attire
Volunteers will receive an official volunteer T-shirt and are asked to wear it during the event so they can be easily identified by participants and attendees.

We encourage volunteers to dress comfortably while still wearing appropriate workwear and footwear suitable for an active event environment.


Awards Banquet Attire
“Sundays Best” attire is encouraged for all banquet attendees. 
 

Hotel & Room Rate:

 

The Hilton Garden Inn Lafayette/Cajundome is the closest hotel to the Cajundome, offering unbeatable convenience for your stay. 

 

The room block with special rate for the The Hilton Garden Inn Lafayette/Cajundome has CLOSED. We encourage those coming in to town for the event to book directly through Hilton's website.

  • 1:00 – 1:15 PM | Pre-Trip Review (Festival Ballroom, 2nd Floor – Convention Center) 
  • 1:15 – 1:45 PM | Driving Course Overview (Festival Ballroom, 2nd Floor – Convention Center) 
  • 1:45 – 2:45 PM | Written Exam (Festival Ballroom, 2nd Floor – Convention Center) 
  • 2:45 – 5:00 PM | **Pre-Trip Inspection (Cajundome Floor)
    • ** Open to spectators for QUIET observation only.

Saturday, June 20 

  • 7:00 – 7:30 AM | Course Walkthrough (Cajundome Floor) 
  • 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM | Course Competition (Cajundome Floor) 
    • Open to spectators (Quiet observation is NOT REQUIRED)
  • 6:00 – 7:00 PM | Cocktail Reception (Ground Floor, Convention Center) 
  • 7:00 – 8:30 PM | Awards Banquet (Festival Ballroom, 2nd Floor – Convention Center)
  • 10:00 PM | *Donated Equipment Removal Deadline (Parking Lot Behind Cajundome)
