The Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) has named State Representative Kellee Hennessy Dickerson and State Senator Beth Mizell its 2026 Road Warrior Award recipients, recognizing their leadership and commitment to Louisiana’s trucking industry during the 2026 Legislative Session.

Both lawmakers earned a 100% LMTA voting record, but the Road Warrior distinction goes beyond their score. Dickerson and Mizell were selected for their leadership and willingness to champion legislation addressing soaring insurance costs and lawsuit abuse affecting Louisiana truckers. Rep. Dickerson and Sen. Mizell were selected as Road Warriors for the courage it took to champion the hardest fight of the session: a major bill to address lawsuit abuse, built to change the civil justice system for decades, not just one cycle.

"Being a Road Warrior is about more than a voting record,” said Renee Amar, LMTA Executive Director. “They were willing to step forward and fight for bold and meaningful reforms against major headwinds, understanding the consequences. Their constituents-and Louisiana-are fortunate to have them in the fight, especially when the easy decision was to sit it out.”

The Road Warrior Awards are part of LMTA’s 2026 Legislative Logbook, which tracks where Louisiana lawmakers stood on trucking and business issues during the legislative session. The Logbook also recognizes LMTA’s Big Rigs and Long Haulers and provides a complete look at lawmakers’ voting records on legislation followed by the association.
