LMTA Officer Promoted to National Trucking Research Board

LMTA President Brad Nelson Appointed to American Transportation Research Institute’s Research Advisory Committee.

Baton Rouge, LA – The Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) is proud to announce that Brad Nelson, LMTA’s 2024-2025 President of the Board, has been appointed to serve on the American Transportation Research Institute’s (ATRI) Research Advisory Committee (RAC). Among other activities, ATRI’s RAC is responsible for annually identifying the top research priorities on the national level for the trucking industry. The American Transportation Research Institute is a national industry leader of transportation and freight-focused research.

“It is an incredible honor to join the ATRI’s Research Advisory Committee,” said Nelson. “I am excited to bring my perspective as a trucking business owner, as well as an LMTA officer, to help guide this critical research.” Nelson first became involved with LMTA to advocate for anti-indemnification legislation, demonstrating his commitment to protecting and advancing the interests of Louisiana’s trucking industry. Over the years, he has served in various leadership roles, including Vice President for the Board’s Bulk Carriers Division and as a member of the LMTA Executive Committee. In 2024, Nelson was elected by the association’s membership to serve as 2024-2025 President of the Board.

This prestigious role reflects Nelson’s dedication to advancing research for the nation’s and Louisiana’s specific trucking industries. RAC members represent a diverse cross-section of trucking industry stakeholders including motor carriers, industry suppliers, commercial drivers, shippers, law enforcement, academia and government.

“Brad Nelson’s appointment is a testament to his exceptional leadership and the impact of our association on trucking-specific research,” said Renee Amar, Executive Director of the LMTA. “We are excited to have a member, who knows first-hand the issues our truckers are facing, contribute and guide research efforts on the national level.”
