State of Emergency Issued Ahead of Winter Weather
Governor Jeff Landry has declared a State of Emergency ahead of the winter weather forecasted to impact Louisiana this weekend.
The National Weather Service has placed much of the state under a Winter Storm Watch beginning Friday, January 23. Forecasted conditions may include ice accumulation, dangerous travel, possible power outages, and interruptions to critical services. The emergency declaration activates Louisiana’s statewide response and recovery resources, enabling direct state support to assist parishes with local operational needs.
The State of Emergency will remain in effect through February 21, 2026.
